Jason Rivas, DVM

Veterinarian & Owner
Dr. Jason Rivas graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. A few years after graduation, he started his own business as a relief veterinarian. He performed relief at Kimball Animal Hospital first in2008, became a full-time associate in 2013, purchased the practice in 2014, and doubled the hospital size with an expansion in 2018.

He enjoys practicing general veterinary medicine and surgery; and creating fun, educational videos. In his spare time, he enjoys reading books, watching movies, family tree research, and the occasional video game. Dr. Rivas lives in Ferndale with his wife, Cassandra; their son Theodore; dog- Frankie-Loo; and cats- Charlie, Hugo, Poppins, and Strax.

Thomas Watson, DVM

Veterinarian
Dr. Watson is a graduate from Michigan State University where he studied Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1992. Dr. Watson has been practicing medicine for 30 years, which is where he and Dr. Rivas had crossed paths while working together at previous veterinary hospitals. Dr. Watson enjoys reading continuing education topics that he shares with staff and clients. He lives at home with pet cats and has 3 college aged children.

Khayya Kelly, DVM

Veterinarian
Dr. Kelly graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. After working as an associate veterinarian for a few years, she started her own business as a relief veterinarian and has worked at hospitals all over the southeastern Michigan area. Dr. Kelly is passionate about behavioral medicine, internal medicine, and dermatology. Her infectious laughter and easygoing demeanor put both clients and patients at ease. In her spare time, Dr. Kelly enjoys pilates, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Delta Leeper, DVM

Veterinarian
Dr. Leeper graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Sacramento Animal Medical Group. She has been practicing general medicine for dogs and cats ever since. Dr. Leeper has special interests in feline medicine, management of chronic conditions, and dentistry. She speaks fluent Spanish.

When not at work, Dr. Leeper can be found indulging the every whim of her four feline roommates, or dancing Argentine tango.

Abby Zasadny LVT, BHSA

Practice Manager
Abby has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician for over 14 years and completed her bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from Baker College in 2013. Abby was part of the Kimball Animal Hospital team years back as a technician, and has now re-joined the team as the Practice Manager. She has experience in preventive and emergency veterinary care, teaching, medical diagnostic equipment support and management.Abby lives at home with her husband Matt and 2 year old son Oliver. They are blessed with a house full of critters including their 15 year old chihuahua “Stoli”, 9 year old chihuahua/fox terrier “Jalapeno”, 4 year old chihuahua/papillon “Sake”, 1 year old pitbull/shih tzu “Nelson”, 16 year old cat “Jager” and Leopard Geckos“Jack & Coke”. In her free time Abby enjoys spending time with friends and family. Abby’s future goal is to continue to make Kimball Animal Hospital feel like home to staff, clients, and their fur kids.

Julie

Head Licensed Veterinary Technician
While growing up, Julie always had pets in her life. When she was 8 years old, she adopted her first cat. She knew at that moment, veterinary medicine would be her career path. Julie fulfilled her dream and became a veterinary technician in 1994. She attended Foothill College in Los Altos, California before moving to Michigan. Julie has a wonderful husband Brian and they share their home with their 3 dogs Mariah, Josie, and Zoeyalong with Sammy their turtle, Firebolt the cockatiel, and their newest and craziest kitty addition, Chai.

Jen P.

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jennifer has been an LVT since 1996. She loves small animal medicine, especially the patients who need a Fear-Free touch! She loves to help people and their pets. She is married and has two little dogs, Daisy a Chi-Pom mix and Tony a Chihuahua. In her off time, Jennifer can be found on the St. Clair River walleye fishing, in the woods of Mio on her quad, camping, and strolling the Great Lakes Beaches looking for cool rocks.

Jenny

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jenny has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician for over thirty years. Since she was a little girl she had stray animals follow her home and she always tried to care for sick and injured animals. She has worked in private hospitals as well as teaching, emergency hospitals, and wildlife. Her love for animals grows each and everyday. She treats each and every pet as she would want her pet to be treated. She has her associates in applied science as well as a laser therapy certification, CPR in animal certification and veterinary forensic and medicine course. In her off time, she enjoys traveling and creating art with her fused glass design business.Right now she has one fur baby and she plans on getting another soon. You can always find her holding and cuddling up to a special animal of any species.

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kat is a 2020 Baker graduate and LVT. Kat started as an assistant at Kimball. Kat has one rescue cat currently ,and is excited to help care for many more.

Casey

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kat is a 2020 Baker graduate and LVT. Kat started as an assistant at Kimball. Kat Casey is a 2009 graduate of Macomb Community College’s Veterinary Technician program and obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialist in Dentistry certification in 2015. She is passionate about dentistry and loves to teach. She also has her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Central Michigan University and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She lives with her boyfriend, Australian Shepherd Rosie,and 3 cats Decster, Bianca, and Taco.

Kelli

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kelli graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Macomb Community College in 2010. In addition to her LVT credentials, she also has an Associates degree in Applied Science and General Studies. Kelli joined the Kimball team in April of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic as a relief technician. She enjoyed being a part of our team so much, that she has continued to stay on as one of our technicians.When she is not working, Kelli enjoys spending time with her family. Her interests and hobbies include figure skating,dancing, and traveling.

Tamra

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Tamra Jane is a 2011 graduate from Wayne County Community College’s veterinary technician program, and taught in the same program until it was sadly closed down. Tamra is happily married, with 1 two legged child, and 2 four legged fur kids. In her spare time she enjoys camping and spending time with family

Lauren

Head Veterinary Assistant
Lauren has been working at Kimball Animal Hospital since August of 2020. She came in with only 2 years experience from a boarding and groom facility and a love for animals but with a heart to learn. She went to Macomb Community College and graduated from the Approved Veterinary Assistant program in the spring of 2021. She has now become our head assistant. When she is not working Lauren loves to spend time with her1 ½ year old black lab named Koda. She also loves to spend as much time as she can with family, friends and her boyfriend. Lauren’s goal at Kimball Animal Hospital is to grow and join the lovely team of LVT’s. She is currently in the veterinary technician program at Penn Foster.

Veterinary Assistant
Kim has been a part of the Kimball family since 2020 and is very happy to be back in the veterinary field. She enjoys cooking with her husband and looks forward to having another fur baby of their own.

Megan B.

Veterinary Assistant
Megan joined the Kimball team in 2017 after earning a BS in Human Biology at Michigan State University in2016. She’s always loved all types of animals for as long as she can remember. Her experience includes volunteering at Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter assisting with spay/neuter surgeries and adoption and wrangling horses on a Montana dude ranch. She has an Australian Cattle Dog mix named Tucker, and a thoroughbred horse named Pal. In her free time, she likes to hike with Tucker, ride Pal, and fish.

Megan W.

Veterinary Assistant
Megan joined the Kimball team in June of 2021. She has worked in the veterinary field for over 2 years and has worked with animals of all different species for over 8 years. This busy girl also works at a safari park during the summer months. When she is not working she is cuddled up with her 3 dogs Loki, Boomer, and Sadie. She enjoys reading and going on long hikes with Loki. She looks forward to continuing her education and becoming an LVT!

Holly

Veterinary Assistant
Holly is a laid back animal lover. Animals have always been her passion. She is currently in school,accomplishing her goal of becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician. When she’s not working or studying for school, she enjoys art and adventuring outdoors with her dog, Palmer the tripaw!

Mike

Veterinary Assistant
Mike has been working in the animal field for 7 years and grew up with several animals in the house to always maintain a basic knowledge of care. While a part of the Kimball team, he hopes to further his education and make current and future clients as happy and comfortable as possible.

Pauline

Veterinary Assistant
Pauline joined our team in 2019 as a veterinary assistant. She is currently studying to become a veterinary technician through Penn Foster College to pursue her childhood dream of meeting new dogs everyday. In her spare time, she loves reading, going to the movies, long walks on the beach with her friend Katie, and spending time with her best friend Anwyn.

Lisa

Head Client Care Representative
Lisa has been at Kimball Animal Hospital since December of 2018. She has over 8 years of experienc eworking in the customer service field. She has 2 Associate Degrees in General Business and Business Management and plans to get her Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management. She lives with her boyfriend Rick, their husky Ghost and two cats Cookie and Luna Petunia. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, going to concerts, movies, going up north, and she loves to go kayaking in the summer with her friends.

Client Care Representative
Jane joined the Kimball team in 2017. She shares her home with her husband and two English Labrador Retrievers, Sparty and Kedzie. Jane has a son in the Air Force, a daughter in Law School, and a son-in-law attending U of M. Jane enjoys quilting, reading, and spending time with family, both furry and human.

Melanie M.

Client Care Representative
Melanie is a graduate of Oakland University with a Bachelors of Human Resources with a specialization in Human Services. Her home is very busy with a husband, 3 kids, her rescue dog Daisy and 5 rescued feeder mice. In her very small amount of downtime, she likes to spend it volunteering for a dog rescue.

Fox

Client Care Representative
Fox recently joined the Kimball team in the fall of 2021, and has always loved animals of all kinds. Since graduating from Eastern Michigan University in 2018, Fox has enjoyed working in administrative and customer service roles. In their free time, Fox enjoys playing video games and board games, working with textiles, spending time outside, and listening to podcasts.
